Weekend Recap

The great Kindle debate continues...and I keep going back and forth. Part of me wants that cute little gadget so I can have all my books at my fingertips...like my music and iPod. But, oh how I love my books. Eh...doesn't really matter anyway...there is NO WAY I can buy one of those things right now. $$$$

So Saturday I started working on a little sewing project that I've been wanting to make for ages, but didn't want to attempt without a sewing machine: A Pennant Banner. I had seen them all over Land of Nod and fell in love. (Yes, it is a kids catalog...I buy a lot of gifts from there...they have THE best stuffed animals!) And I, of course, wanted a banner for my studio/office area upstairs. So I chose some fabric that I liked and started sewing away.

I'm not finished just yet...I still need to attach the trim to string all the pennants together. I'll probably do that sometime this week.

Then that night Drew & I went over to Dave & Shawnee's house for a yummy lasagna dinner. We're all big talkers, so that is how we usually spend our time together. But they got a Wii for Christmas, so everyone had a good laugh as we all attempted to play tennis, bowl, and box. The boxing was EXHAUSTING! It was quite a workout. Sadly, I have no photos of the Wii playing, but do have a funny/cute picture of their baby, Jacob.

Yep, that's a beer and he can hold it all by himself. : ) Drew and Dave are trying to teach him how to be a man.

Today, I ventured (eventually) into town to pick up the trim for the pennant banner. And while I was in the shop, I found some of the cutest fabric. So I had to buy it.

A New Pennant Project

I'm thinking about making a banner for my niece. Gotta make sure her room is pink and green. I'm pretty sure it is, but thought I'd check. And if it isn't, I'll just make another one for myself.

And I also found this fabric for my French Press Cozy.
Coffee Cozy Colors

The brown will be the outside fabric, the pink goes on the inside, and I'll have batting in the middle. I have a thing for browns, pinks, & greens and polka dots & stripes. I can't get enough of them. I'll probably have some leftovers of this fabric, so then I'll make a little ipod holder/coin purse.

And the final project on my list is to hem two of my pairs of jeans. I have two pairs that I like to wear with heels, but I have two other pairs that I think would look better with flats but are just too long. We'll see how that goes...I've never hemmed anything before...but it doesn't seem like it will be that bad. Fingers crossed!

I'll put up pictures as I work on/finish these projects.

I LOVE MY SEWING MACHINE!

Updated...I made Chicken Vesuvio tonight...it is oh so good. But then the stove broke. : ( Actually the electronic panel that controls everything broke. Great. But to forget about the broken stove, check out dinner...

Oh man! You're really not having luck with the appliances these days are you?

Dinner looks fabulous, why wasn't I invited? ;)

Festive banner! We can only hope the sewing machine doesn't break next.

Butter beans may not be for everyone (and who would have thought you'd eat them), but your supper looks scrumptious.

Wow! You can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, yadda, yadda, yadda, you're a woman W-O-M-A-N!! I'm so proud of my Renaissance friend. You "literally" do it all!! Love the banners, love the dinner, love the french press cozy and don't think I'm not coming over to get things tailored by you now. :) Abbey Lile-Tailor?

If those are butter beans and not Lima beans, I want the recipe for Chicken Vesuvio. And yes, I know there's not much difference, but Uncle Jim THINKS there is. And I believe your machines are out to get you! Be VERY careful.:-O I once saw a Twilight Zone episode like what you're experiencing--it wasn't pretty!

That kid needs to be enrolled in a program or something. Underage drinking is a national epidemic. Drunk Triking claims the lives of dozens of pre-K children every year. Besides, do you know how rowdy a breast feeding little inebriate can get once it's dinner time and mom pops out the snack trays? It's like happy hour at The Booby Hatch! He must be stopped before it's too late.

I just hope the dinner finished cooking BEFORE the stove went out. I hear there are great recipes of cooking on the engine of your car since the stove went out. It may be your only choice now.

Please share the recipe for your chicken dish. It looks hearty and delicious! There are few things that I enjoy more than roasted potatoes.
